The Computer Applications and Advanced Art classes at Linton-Stockton High School participated in a special project during 1998-1999 school year that involved the West Baden Springs Hotel in West Baden, Indiana.
Last fall the computer classes formatted information about the hotel that was downloaded from the Internet. Then on Thursday, October 29, 1998, the Computer Applications and Advanced Art classes toured the facilities, through special arrangements with the Historic Landmarks Foundation of Indiana. Volunteer guides conducted the tours and answered students’ questions.
During the tour a scavenger hunt was conducted. Students used a checklist to find items or special features during the tour. Brandee Haywood was the winner of the scavenger hunt, and Allison Baker was runner-up. Each winner received a book about the history of the hotel.
The group ate lunch at Subway in French Lick. The restaurant was located across the street from the Beechwood House, the former home of John Edward Ballard.
