Back to school text on chalkboard

It's hard to believe that August is already here and our first day of school is coming up on Thursday, August 10th!

Here is some helpful information for students, parents, and guardians as you prepare to return to school.

DAILY SCHEDULE

Students may start entering classrooms and begin getting ready for class at 7:50 AM. If your child is interested in eating breakfast at school, breakfast will be served from 7:50 AM to 8:00 AM.

Our morning announcements will begin at 8:05 AM and finish at 8:10 AM. This is a great time for students to become informed about the week’s activities. Announcements are also posted on our school website each morning.

Students who do not make it to their classroom by 8:05 AM will be counted as tardy. Please make every effort to get students to their classrooms on time. It is very important for students to get their day started off on the right track.

Dismissal time is 2:55 PM Monday-Thursdays.

Dismissal time is 1:55 PM on Fridays.

BUS ZONE

PLEASE remember there is no parking in the bus zone at our 4th Street Entrance between the hours of 7:30 and 8:20 AM and 2:15 and 3:15 PM. THE SAFETY OF OUR STUDENTS IS OUR HIGHEST PRIORITY.  You must use the drop-off loop in the back of the elementary building when dropping off children.

ENTERING THE BUILDING

When bringing students to school the back doors at the drop off loop will be unlocked at 7:50 AM. All students will need to be dropped off at the drop-off loop. The east and west entry doors will be unlocked at 7:50 AM for walkers to use to enter the building.  STUDENTS ARE NOT TO BE DROPPED OFF IN THE SOUTH PARKING LOT ALLEY.

Parents will need to come to the office entrance if they want to pick up their child before school is dismissed and will need to sign the student out. You will need to park in the south parking lot and may park in the spots marked “Visitor” parking.

Please be prepared to show photo identification when signing a student out. This is for the protection of each and every student.

FEES AND SUPPLIES

The 2023 Indiana Legislative Session produced many new laws that schools must abide by. HRA 1001 eliminated textbook and curricular fees, making them no longer parents responsibility! School supplies are also no longer required to be purchased for students, however they are optional. Students will still need a backpack to transport items to and from school.

This law went into effect July 1, 2023 so any unpaid fees prior to that date are still in the student’s account. Notices have been sent to families with unpaid balances. Schools may still charge for replacement items and damaged or lost items. Those prices are as follows:

  • Chromebook Charger Replacement $11.00
  • Chromebook Replacement $125.00

LINTON-STOCKTON OPEN CAMPUS

Linton-Stockton School Corporation will be hosting an Open Campus night on Monday August 7.

Doors will open at 5pm and the event will conclude at 7pm. All our buildings will be open for students to orient themselves to their new classrooms, meet their new teacher, and drop off any supplies they may choose to provide.

5th GRADE ATHLETIC INFORMATION

If you are planning on playing basketball or cheerleading you must have a physical completed before you can practice or play. I.H.S.A.A. physical forms can be picked up in the elementary office. All completed physicals must be returned to the office.

PLAYGROUND AFTER SCHOOL HOURS

Our school has an excellent playground for our students to enjoy during recess. We feel fortunate to be able to offer this facility to the public during hours when our school is not in session. We do not offer supervision before or after school hours. If children use the playground during the non-school period, they must assume responsibility of the proper use of equipment to prevent accidents.

HAVE A GREAT SCHOOL YEAR!
